Northern Film & Media and New Writing North have joined forces to deliver a unique scheme aimed at linking regional poets with filmmakers.

Words & Vision brings the two creative forces of poetry and film together and has now reached its vital second stage where you, the filmmaker, are invited to submit your film ideas.

Simply read the 10 poems presented on this page – chosen from over 100 entrants – and submit a 60 second film idea inspired by your favourite poem.

Five 60-second film ideas will be chosen and receive a production budget of £1,000, including VAT, to produce the short film this summer. The winning films will streamed on-line on the North East Movies website where they will be up for the public vote. The final films and the winner of the public vote will be screened at a special ceremony later in the year.

Download the full guidance notes and application form or read more information by clicking here. The deadline for applications is Thursday 19 June 2008.

The scheme is open to Directors based in the North East region (Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, County Durham and Tees Valley). Applicants must be over 18 years of age and not in full-time or undergraduate education.
