Where can I access my account details?

When you login to North East Movies you are automatically directed to the ‘Upload and Manage Films’ area. To access your account details select ‘Your Account’ tab.

Can I amend my account details?

Yes, you can review, amend and save changes to your account details.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, you can choose to delete your North East Movies account via a link on ‘Your Account’ page. Selecting and confirming this link will permanently delete your account information, your profile information and any films you have uploaded to the North East Movies website.

What is the ‘Your Profile’ page for?

‘Your Profile’ allows you to build a User Profile, adding a biography, image, company name, link to your company or personal website and favourite films playlist.

What is the ‘Post News’ page for?

Post News allows you to post news to your User Profile page and keep your viewers up to date with your film and company news.

What is the ‘Upload and Manage Films’ page for?

Upload and Manage Films allows you to edit and delete existing movies in your account and to upload new movies.

Can I upload any type of film content to North East Movies?

You can upload any original film to North East Movies as long as it adheres to our Terms and Conditions.

You are prohibited from uploading or transmitting to North East Movies any material:-

• which infringes the copyright or any other intellectual or proprietary rights of another person (that is, it was copied from another work without the permission of the copyright owner);
• that may be defamatory, threatening, indecent, obscene, offensive, pornographic, abusive, discriminatory, in breach of contract or duty of confidence or privacy or which may cause annoyance to any third party;
• which constitutes or encourages conduct that would be considered a criminal offence, gives rise to civil liability, or would otherwise be contrary to the law of or infringe the rights of any third party, in the UK or any other country in the world;
• which is technically harmful to the site or other users (which includes, but is not limited to, computer viruses, trojans, worms, harmful components, corrupted data or other malicious software or harmful data) or is otherwise calculated to bring our website into disrepute.

Do you moderate content?

Yes. When you have uploaded your film it will be reviewed by a member of the North East Movies team.

We aim to review your film within 72 hours, usually it is much quicker than this but occasionally during periods of high activity it may take slightly longer. If approved, your film will be published to the website. If there is any problem with your film, you will be contacted via email.

If your film contains adult themes or language it may be necessary for us to place a click through screen before your film making users aware of the content and requesting them to confirm they are 18 or over prior to allowing access to view or download.

How do I upload a film?

To upload a film, you need to sign up as a member of North East Movies. Login to the site, click on ‘Upload Your Work’ in the main menu and follow the simple instructions.

What video file formats can I upload?

North East Movies accepts video files from almost any digital camera, camcorder or mobile phone. These include: AVI, MOV, WMV, ASF, MPG, 3GP and MP4.

Do you convert my files?

The file you upload will be automatically converted into an Adobe Flash video file to ensure reliable streaming from our servers. It will also be converted into formats suitable for download to iPod Video, Sony PSP and mobile phones.

Can I upload files optimised for viewing on different devices?

Advanced Upload is for content creators who wish to optimise and upload additional files specifically for iPod Video and Sony PSP. In this case no conversion or compression is performed by North East Movies, allowing you to control the quality settings of the files made available for download to these two devices. Please note that automated conversion will still be used to produce the Flash video file for the website and mobile phone video files made available for download.

Why are there two download options for mobile phones?

For films under 1 minute in duration we offer users the option to download directly to their mobile phone via our mobile site. If your film is more than 1 minute long the option to download via the mobile site will not be offered to users.

For all films we offer users the option to download to their PC and transfer to their mobile phone via cable, IR, Bluetooth or memory card.

Is there a limit on the number of files I can upload?

There is no limit on the number of files you can upload at this time.

Is there a limit on the size of file I can upload?

The maximum file size you can upload is 100MB.

How long will my file take to upload?

This will depend on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the file, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours to upload a file. Generally, if you have a high-speed Internet connection you can expect the upload to take somewhere between 1-5 minutes for every 1MB. However, the experience is different for every user because of the variation in connection speeds.

What are tags?

Tags or keywords are used to describe your content. It is important to add tags to your public content so that it will appear in search results.

Can I edit my film files and information?

You can edit your films and information by logging in to your account and selecting the ‘Upload and Manage Films’ tab. Select the film you would like to edit and click the ‘Edit’ button.

Can I delete my film files and information?

You can delete your films and information by logging in to your account and selecting the ‘Upload and Manage Films’ tab. Select the film you would like to delete and click the ‘Delete’ button.

What do I need to watch films on North East Movies?

We use Flash 9 to play films on the website. We auto-detect if your machine has this installed, if not we direct you to the Adobe website to download it. You will only need to do this once.

How do I view a film in full screen mode?

In the bottom right hand corner of the flash player you will see two buttons, click the right button to view the film in full screen mode.

How do I exit full screen mode?

Press the Esc key on your keyboard to exit full screen mode.

How do I view a film at its original size?

In the bottom right hand corner of the flash player you will see two buttons, click the left button to view the film at its original size.

Can I save my favourite films?

To save films permanently, you need to sign up as a member, and then click the ‘Save to Favorites’ link underneath the films you want to watch later.

Can I put a film on my site?

Yes you can! Simply go to the film detail page, copy the code from the Embed box and paste it into the appropriate section of your webpage or blog.

How can I show a friend a film on email?

On the film detail page click ‘Email to a friend’ and fill in your friend’s email address. The link will then be sent to them.

How can I show a friend a film on IM (msn, yim, aim)?

On the film detail page click ‘Show a friend’, copy the text from the box below and paste into your conversation window.

How do I post a comment on a film?

To post a comment on a film, you need to sign up as a member of North East Movies. Login and click the ‘Post Comment’ tab on the film detail page. This will take you to the Comments page, enter your comment and click the ‘Submit’ button. Please keep your comments respectful and relevant, so they can be enjoyed by the full North East Movies community.

How do I edit or delete a comment I made on someone else's film?

At the present time it is not possible to edit or delete comments you have made on other peoples films. Once you have posted a comment it can only be deleted by the North East Movies team.

Do you moderate comments?

We operate a self policing community approach to the posting of comments. All comments are posted live but any user may report a comment as inappropriate. The North East Movies team will then review and remove the comment if necessary.

How do I report an inappropriate comment?

If you think a comment is unsuitable, click the 'report inappropriate comment' link underneath it.

What is the Voting option for?

Occasionally a Film Series will be part of a competition and the North East Movies audience will be invited to vote for their favourite film. If a film is part of a competition it will be shown on both the Series page and Film Detail page, simply click the link to be taken to the competition page, view and vote for your favourite!

Can I download films from the North East Movies website?

Yes, you can download versions optimised to play on iPod Video, Sony PSP and Mobile Phones.

Is there any charge for downloading films?

No, all of the films available to download from North East Movies are free of charge.

How do I download a film to watch on my iPod?

Browse the films on North East Movies and find the film you would like to download. On the film detail page you will see ‘Download for iPod and PSP’. Select the iPod option. Click to download and save to your computer when prompted. Transfer to your iPod.

How do I download a film to watch on my Sony PSP?

Browse the films on North East Movies and find the film you would like to download. On the film detail page you will see ‘Download for iPod and PSP’. Select the PSP option. Click to download and save to your computer when prompted. Transfer to your PSP.

How do I download a film to watch on my Mobile Phone?

There are two options for downloading films to your mobile phone:

• Via the North East Movies mobile site.
  
  If this option is available you will see ‘Download from our mobile site’ in the list of download options on the film detail page. Enter the address into your mobile phone browser and you will be taken to a page on our mobile site where you can download the film.
  
  Please note that this option is only available for films less than 1 minute in duration. You will require an Internet enabled mobile phone. Films will be in 3GP format, although we can not guarantee handset compatibility.
  
  *Your operator may charge you for data used in downloading the film file.



• Side Loading.
  
  This option is available for all films on the North East Movies website and allows you to save a file to your computer, to then transfer to your mobile phone via cable, IR, Bluetooth or memory card.
  
  On the film detail page you will see ‘Side load this film’. Click to download and save to your computer when prompted. Transfer to your mobile phone via cable, IR, Bluetooth or memory card.
