Sound + Vision: 35/45
SOUND + VISION 35/45 - DEADLINE 15th Sept 2011 DEADLINE 12am MIDNIGHT!
Northern Film & Media in partnership with Generator is looking for the North East’s most creative and distinctive filmmakers to produce a music video for leading independent record label Domino Records.
Sound & Vision 35/45 is a new programme designed to encourage collaboration in film and music. The initiative will see the North East’s most cutting-edge filmmakers and musicians work with Domino – one of the world’s most successful independent record labels in the world and home to artists including The Arctic Monkeys, Wild Beasts, Villagers and Franz Ferdinand.
On 1 September, Symphonic Pictures, Ajimal and Toyger will upload their songs to Generator’s website and the region’s filmmakers will have the opportunity to download the song of their choice and make a DIY music video. Filmmakers must submit their films to Northern Film & Media’s North East Movies page by 15 September. Domino Records will then pick their favourite six videos from the website to be screened at a live music showcase event along with exclusive acoustic performances from the bands. One filmmaker will be commissioned on the night by Northern Film & Media, Domino and Generator to make a music video with Domino Records and a budget of up to £10k. Sound + Vision: 35/45 is an evolution of Sound + Vision, which last year saw Teesside indie quartet Jimmy & The Sounds work with DJ Franco Philippe and filmmaker Villing Chong. The Rolling Stones and Oasis music video producer Dick Carruthers mentored the programme and a live showcase was presented by ex-Undertone and current UK Music Chief Feargal Sharkey.
