Volunteers Needed for Local Community Film Project
Would you like to help manage a local film club for homeless and vulnerable people? Or run a filmmaking project in your local community?
Open Cinema - an organisation that runs a network of community film clubs across the UK - is seeking a cinema coordinator, volunteer ushers and filmmakers for a new service in Newcastle.
Crisis Skylight, an education, training and employment centre for homeless and vulnerably housed people in the heart of Newcastle, has recently opened the North East's first Open Cinema club, hosting weekly film screenings, filmmaking projects, and renowned guest speakers from the film industry. There are many opportunities available at this film club, from being a coordinator (one evening a week) to ushering (a few evenings each month) to running a short filmmaking project (one evening a week for eight weeks).
Applicants must be passionate about film, and able to communicate this with the centre's clients and staff. Experience working with homeless or vulnerably housed people would also be beneficial.
